Libertarians File for Office
The filing period for the general election ended on June 11th. Libertarian candidates from governor to state representative have filed their declarations and are now in the final two months of petitioning to get on the ballot.
On the morning of June 9th the LPNH held a short press conference in Concord. Afterward candidates, including gubernatorial nominee John Babiarz and senatorial nominee Ken Blevens, went to the Secretary of State's office to file their paperwork. It was a busy day with both major party and independent hopefuls filing. The media was there to cover many of them in between the legislative action of the special session. John Babiarz had an interview with NHPR and made the rounds announcing his candidacy to the print reporters at the statehouse.![[Ken Blevens filing for office]](http://lpnh.org/sites/default/files/images/kenfiling1.jpg)
While there we had a chance to speak with Bill Gardner about some challenges we've encountered with petitioning including candidates being told to leave polling places and local officials being unaware of the law protecting petitioners. We hope to have some more news on that front soon.
The full list of Libertarians running for office in 2010 is on our candidates page. Once petitioning is completed, expect active campaigns across the Granite State.
