Town Elections Means Petitioning
Town election day in most locations is Tuesday, March 9th. This is the absolute best day to petition to get candidates on the ballot in November. This is fairly easy, all you need is a pen, a clipboard and a smile. We need 3000 net signatures from across the state to get our slate of candidates on the ballot. If 30-50 people help and ask for signatures, then we can be done in one day. A new record!
Even if you can only do a single 4-hour shift, it would be a huge help. Even working 2 hours when the polls open or from 5-7pm would be appreciated. Bring a friend along. Working in pairs is much more effective. We have candidates around the state who will be out petitioning and would welcome some help at their home polling place. If you live in a city, connect with someone petitioning in a neighboring town and help them out. For the new folks, experienced petitioners are available to show you the ropes.
This is the most vital step at this stage of the game. Until a candidate collects enough petitions, he or she cannot campaign for the office and will not be recognized by the media. The sooner we are done, the sooner we can go into campaigning, well ahead of the D's and R's who won't decide their nominees until September.
You can RSVP to chair@lpnh.org or at our facebook event, please post to the event wall where you will be and what hours you can help so we can start coordinating ASAP and have all the necessary resources in place before election day.
See you at the polls!
