Petition Drive Begins!
As you may have already heard or read, the LPNH has started our petition drive to be on the 2012 ballot. Yes, we are starting early. Why? Because we can.
This year our effort is to put the party on the ballot rather than having individual candidates petition. The main benefit of this route is we can start now rather than having to wait until January. We also don't have to worry about the new law limiting the distribution of gathered signatures. And we can hold a nominating convention as late as next June.
Thanks to some generous help from the national Libertarian Party, we have already started collecting and are doing so at a good pace, but more help is still needed. That's where you come in.
We need two things from you our members and supports, time and/or money. Your time in the form of collecting some signatures from registered voters. Your money in the form of a donation to the LPNH to cover the expenses of the petition drive (printing, postage, etc).
You can download the petition form at http://lpnh.org/Petition20
Elections are the best day to collect signatures, we have a special election for Brendan Kelly on September 6th, and city elections in November. Other good places are fairs, festivals, or just going door-to-door in your neighborhood. If you've never petitioned before we will get you paired up with someone else to show you the ropes. It is very easy, we're just asking voters to sign to give them the option of voting Libertarian next November, we just want to give our candidates the opportunity to run.
